Six Hierarchical Treemaps of the Twelve Materials That Hold 93% of Units Above Requirement
Tree diagram (beta). This page reads the same August 28; NCCR corrected September 30 field inventory the maps use (/assets/map/regions-par.geojson.gz) and draws six hierarchical treemaps of the twelve materials that hold 93% of all units above requirement. Click a block to zoom (division → material → region, or material → division → region). Breadcrumb, Back, and Escape return up one level. The last two charts are the real-estate slice of right-sizing — warehouse square feet that could come off the floor, and one year of median rent on that space — separate from material replacement value. Central California is omitted (no FY27 worksheet). Dollar figures are ESTIMATES — not an NHQ catalog — and do not change PAR numbers, worksheet math, or the official factor set.

On-Hand by Division

Outer = division · Inner = twelve materials · Sized by on-hand units

Each block is a division; tiles inside are materials. Click a division to fill the chart with its materials, then a material to see regions. Hover for units.

On-Hand by Type

Outer = material · Inner = division · Sized by on-hand units

Same stock, flipped: click a material, then a division, to see that material by region. Division colors match the other charts.

Excess Full Cost by Division ESTIMATE

Outer = division · Inner = twelve materials · Sized by full cost, not units

Full cost = (excess units × estimated unit price) + (excess sq ft × $7.76). Excess sq ft = (excess units ÷ units per pallet) × 13.3. Median warehouse rent is $7.76 / sq ft / year; the leased rate ($11.22) is noted, not used for sizing. Rent is net pallet area — real warehouses need roughly 2× for aisles. Click SWaRM, then Cots, to see that slice by region.

Excess Full Cost by Type ESTIMATE

Outer = material · Inner = division · Sized by full cost, not units

Cots dominate a dollar view in a way they do not dominate a unit view. Click a material, then a division, for regions. Hover for material $, rent $, and full cost.

Releasable Space by Division ESTIMATE

Outer = division · Inner = twelve materials · Sized by releasable sq ft

If inventory were right-sized to requirement, this is net pallet sq ft that could come off the floor. Excess sq ft = (excess units ÷ units per pallet) × 13.3. Rent is net pallet area — real warehouses need roughly 2× for aisles. Click a division, then a material, to see regions. Hover for excess units, units/pallet, and excess sq ft.

Releasable Warehouse Cost by Division ESTIMATE

Outer = division · Inner = twelve materials · Sized by median warehouse rent

One year of median warehouse rent on that net pallet area. Not material replacement value. Median occupancy is $7.76 / sq ft / year; the leased rate ($11.22) is noted, not used for sizing. Rent is net pallet area — real warehouses need roughly 2× for aisles. Click a division, then a material, to see regions. Hover for excess sq ft and rent $.

Estimated Unit Costs

Best-guess replacement prices — not the NHQ catalog. Edit assets/analysis.js to change them; this table is rendered from that file.

Pallet factors match the Storage Factor Workbench. Only S-2 Blankets, S-4 Comfort Kits, and S-6 Cots are Jim Coughlan CONFIRMED; the other nine are workbench estimates. Square feet per pallet position = 13.3.

Formula. full_cost = (excess_units × unit_usd) + (excess_sqft × 7.76)
excess_sqft = (excess_units / unitsPerPallet) × 13.3
rent_usd_per_year = excess_sqft × 7.76
On-hand charts are sized by units. Excess full-cost charts combine material $ + rent. The last two charts are the real-estate slice only — space and one year of median warehouse occupancy, not material replacement value. Excess x_* fields are used when present — this page does not invent excess as on-hand minus requirement.
